A group of about 100 people gathered at Breakwater on Sunday, January 31 to celebrate Correy Fedor's passion: diving. Divers from the West Valley scuba program, some who knew Correy through Any Water Sports or the Cypress Sea, family members, and family friends all enjoyed a spectacularly beautiful day in Monterey honoring Correy. Correy's brother, Jarred, went through the certification process earlier in the month, just so he could make this dive. The skies were blue and sunny, the water had calmed down and cleaned up considerably from the earlier storms, and it was simply a perfect setting. A waterproof notebook and pencil were placed at the bottom of a float line with a buoy marking the location, and divers took turns writing notes in it as they made their dive. More than a few divers reported that the visibility around the notebook was noticeably better than the surrounding area... and that as you progressed along the wall from the notebook, the visibility opened up to about 25 feet. Impressive, given that it had been less than 5 feet earlier in the week.

After the diving, we ate. What a feast! Karl brought a BBQ and served up bratwurst, Eric's Deli near the Fedors donated several salads and cookie trays for the occasion, and there was a huge assortment of delicious dishes to sample. Lots of laughter - lots of stories - it was a fun day. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special.

I'm told that as the crowd dwindled and a smaller group of friends enjoyed the quiet of the late afternoon, a huge pod of dolphin showed up. If you attended the memorial service, you know why that makes me smile... Thanks for a great day, Correy!
