- Visual Inspection (VIP) - An annual visual inspection is required by the SCUBA industry. We examine your tanks inside and out, ensure proper valve operation, replace O-rings as needed, and adjust burst disc tension. Visual Inspections are required when:
- The VIP sticker on your cylinder is out of date.
- The cylinder pressure cannot be measured using a pressure gauge (i.e., the tank has been emptied making it susceptible to moisture contamination).
- The fill station operator feels a VIP is necessary based on a cursory examination of your cylinder prior to filling.
- Hydrostatic Testing (Hydro) - Every five (5) years, the DOT requires SCUBA cylinders undergo a hydrostatic test. This test overexpands the cylinder beyond its working pressure and ensures that the metal retracts to an acceptable volume near its original state.
- Oxygen Cleaning - SCUBA cylinders must be oxygen cleaned and maintained if they are going to be filled using partial pressure blending methods (i.e., a high percentage of oxygen--greater than 40%--will be filled directly into the cylinder). Clean, hydro-carbon free air must be used for any air-fills to maintain oxygen clean validation.

Regulators & Buoyancy Compensators
Regulator and Bouyancy Compensator maintenance is an essential step toward keeping your underwater life support system functioning at optimal performance. There are two things that you should be aware of with regard to your SCUBA equipment:
- Regulators and BCD's have recommended service intervals that must be met in order to maintain manufacturer warranties. If you have questions with regard to your personal system, call the shop or stop by and we will inform you of your servicing options.
- With some regulators, parts are free under warranty, others they are not. Before having service performed on your equipment, make sure you understand how it might affect your warranty.
- Additional fees may apply for parts based on regulator warranty
- If you need your gear sooner, there is a $35 expediting fee
- For a 24-hour turnaround, labor is doubled
